Before we start on our internet marketing plan we are going to download some free tools so that we can have a better understanding of what it is we are trying to achieve, and don't worry they are free to download and use.
The first tool we need to download is a program called the Alexa Toolbar it is a browser add-on and it is a very useful tool for spying our competitors. When you get to the download page there are instructions on how to install and don't worry none of these programs are ADWARE. You can run spysweeper and see for yourself .
The next free tool that we need is the Google Toolbar which will show us the page rank of every page we view this is a very important part of our internet marketing plan and also strategy. This will assist us in deciding on what marketing strategy we will employ to eliminate the competition.
The last tool to download is a program called Good Keywords this is also a free tool and will give us some very valuable insight into what keywords we should be targeting initially for our website. If you want a more sophisticated program and one that I use it is called Word Tracker and is a very effective tool analyzing every aspect of your keyword research..

Ok so what is a Internet Marketing Strategy?
You will hear many different views on this subject and I'm not going to say whether our way is right or wrong we will let the results speak for themselves. The first step in our strategy will be research this is assuming that we already have a product or at least a product in mind.
We will now use these free tools that we have downloaded to see how competitive our market place is. We will use an example here and after researching the keyword internet marketing, We have discovered that we had 138,000,000 web sites that we are going to be competing against in google to get into the top 10 rankings for this keyword this is virtually impossible to begin with.
So what are we to do, this is where good keywords comes into play. All we need to do is enter in the keyword we want to target and we will be presented with numerous keywords and keyword phrases and there search requests.
We then go to google and enter each keyword to see how competitive it is. Once we find a keyword that has only about 3,000,000 competing web sites is when we go to work. You might think this is not achievable but it is, with very little effort I ranked this site at number 47 in the search engine MSN which has 3,920,712 web sites competing for this keyword phrase All with-in the first week. With a few tips and tricks we can get an even better ranking on MSN for this site.
Google had 14,600,000 which is a little over 10% of the competition for internet marketing. As you see we start small and work up to our main objective top 10 in google.
We need to do this to initially find 3 keyword phrases and what I have found is that 3 or 4 word key phrases are the best to target as most webmasters chase single keyword phrases which can be a very hard and competitive market..
The Key to success on the internet is to start slowing and work up to our eventual goals of having a top ranked site on all the major search engines.
